God loves me (mutual)

Friday night I hit up Dayton’s Urban Nights with Jason and Joyell and the new fellow laborers (Victor, Ryan, Stacy, and Erin) (who, btw, are all awesome!) And i just had a realy good time hangin out. there was tap dancing and live music and people playing with fire and all kinds of cool stuff. Stacy got some awesome pics of the people with fire.. I’ll post em whenever I get em.
So saturday I went to a barn raising with my dad at Carrage Hill Farm and Metro Park. It was actualy pretty cool - Did you know there was a Timber Framers Guild? They actualy built a barn without using any construction vehicles or power tools or anything. Just two horses and a bunch of people!
(Also, thats the place that sells candy frickin cheep - we’re talkin like a pound of candy for about $2!)

So after that we went back and my dad started working with me on building a box for the new pair of subwoofers he just got me! these things are bitchin! 15″, 100 watts each. They’re built by radio shack and never used. the best part - he got em for $5 each at the Habitat for Humanity store in Troy and gave em to me!
So we got tye box sort of built but not realy finished. And last I heard, I still needed an amp, although he mentioned that he saw one at a garage sale for $2, so maybe I have an amp on the cheep as well! Either way, this things gonna kick when I’m done!
I thought about going to see The Cut Scene play sat night, but i basicaly started working on the box about when i needed to leave to make it to the show on time. then i remembered it later, but i would of been 2 hours late right then, and I still needed dinner, so I skipped that show.. I had XFEST to make up for it…
X-FEST Owned! it was just a freakin awesome rock show - they sold out the whole fairgrounds! thats a lot of people! There was a bunch of cool people I knew at xfest too, I showed up with my bud Aaron, I found Josh there right away (funny story: I left my house an hour later than he did but parked in an alley and avoided the line, so I got in like an hour before he did ;) I also found Hannah there, who is just totaly sweet, and I met her friend Steph so I hung with them for most of the show. I also saw a bunch of guys I used to go to school with - Etch-a-sketch was crowd surfing! (if you don’t know etch-a-sketch, but you do know a lee duncan.. and you’re in the mood for a bad story, ask him where the name ‘etch’ came from)

now remember, God had been pretty good to me all weekend, but he realy kicked it up a notch sunday. As soon as I went up crowd surfing, my cell fell out of my pocket. My dude Aaron grabbed it and got it back to me. Thanks God, thanks Aaron: you both rock!
So then a while later a mosh pit breaks out right beside me so I was like what the heck and jumped in. Yea… I got knocked down… a few times. but it was fun. except I landed on the (previously snugly closed) button on my back opcket and poped it open. Out goes my wallet. I didnt notice this right away, but I think that’s what happened. Anyways, I prayed about it and just reminded myself that that’s my wallet and that the devil has no right to take it from me. God’s given us “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20) and that includes my wallet with EVERYTHING still in it. So I claimed it. I spoke in toungs for a bit and like 10 minutes later I picked up my wallet from the xfest lost and found booth.
heres a random 2 am ms paint picture because that’s more text than I want to read without a break.
So yea, I’m just jamming for a while, keeping all my stuff with me, but twards the end of the show Hannah was the only friend still in the crowd rockin with me and she decides to go crowd surfing. and I decided to follow her. apparently, this was a poor decision on my part. I went up with my wallet, surfed all the way to the front, came down and immediately realized that I was no longet in posession of any wallet.
right away I fought my way back up to the front of the crowd thw whole way there just prayin and talkin to God and speaking in toungs. It was like cmon devel, I just kicked your ass once, do I have to do it again?… ok then, you asked for it. So I started asking everybody if they had seen a wallet. A few thought the had seen one over “that way” but nobody actualy had it. So the show enede and cleared out and I talked to the xfest staff / guards. The had a wallet! it wasnt mine….
and another picture. you earned it:
so I checked with the lost and found booth and they didnt have it yet, but they gave me the number to call to get stuff later on. But I still knew I was gonna get it back with everything, including my $35.
so Aaron and Josh (mostly Aaron) threw in for dinner for the 3 of us at frickers (that place is d-lish!) and then me and Aaron roled back to my place. And I remmebered that my shower is broke (yes, again). And I’m dirtyier than mud by this point. think about that for a second. that’s a pretty good trick. anyways Aaron invited me to crash at his place (again) but we still swung by my place for his car and some clothes for me.
Mom was still up at my place so I explaned to her what happened. she wasn’t to happy that a) I looked sun burned (I wasn’t, just a bit redish) B) I was moshing and c) I lost my wallet.
understandable.
So 20 minutes later on the way to aarons, my mom calls me and says that Hollywood Video called her and said that someone had found a wallet with my hv card in it and left his phone number with them!! Holywood video!!!
So my mom called the number and this dude Rob told her that all my cards were still there and that I could give him a call tomorrow after he got off work at 3:30 neither of em mentioned cash, but I figured meh, the important stuff is there. I can make back the cash in a day. If I lost my liscense and insurance and bank card and whatnot though, I’m humped.

So that time frame was a bit rough since I was scheduled to work till 5 today and then go to class from 6-10 tonight. but I can usualy get off early if it’s important. Except I had my anualy preformance review planed for today. But I explained it to my boss(es) and they understood and moved up my preformance review. The preformance review, btw, was incredble. I got ‘good’ or ‘excelent’ in every single category and a dollar an hour raise!
So I got off early, called up rob. He told me how to find his place and then came and stood on the corner in the rain so that I could find his streat easy! How awesome is that!?
And here’s the kicker: I looked inside and everything was there including $45! Not only did God get me back my wallet twice, it had more cash than I thought I had in it!
And all of this ties back into a principle that I didnt mention before because I didnt think about it much: the tithe. Basicaly you give 10% of your money to God in one way or another out of the cheerfullness of your heart. 90% of your money with Gods blessing can go a helluva lot farther than just you and 100% of your money will ever make it.
So that’s my preaching / crazy-awesome-cool weekend.

Rather than risk loosing it, I’m copying the comments from the origional myspace posting to here

Yea, the bible definately talks about speaking in toungs. the first time it happened was on the day of penticost in Acts 2.
It’s a great way to build yourself up and, if you interpret it, the other people around you. And it’s avaliable to anybody who pulls off Romans 10:9 & 10:
Romans 10:9-10:
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

yea, the wallet link was mostly a give credit where credit’s due type of thing. I probably wouldnt post pics of my wallet, even if I did have a camera of my own…

It’s speaking words that were given to you from God in a language you don’t know. The language could be a mans language or an angels language (1 Corinthians 13:1). You move your mouth and you take the action to make the sounds, but God gives you the actual words.
And if you decide to interpret it, God gives you the understanding of what it means. The interpretation would then be in your own words.
When I was talking about it in that post, I wasn’t actualy making any noise or interpreting it though; I was just doing it silently in my head. It works the same wether you say it out loud or not.
Thers a lot of reasons for why to speak in toungs. For starters, it’s proof that your born again / saved. If you can speak in tongues, then you are absolutely, positively, 100 percent guarenteed going to heaven and all hell can’t stop you. If you speak in tongues then you’re born again, and once you’re born again, you can’t loose it.
Besides that though, it just builds you up, it makes you feel better. It calms you down if you’re upset. And if you interpret it then it builds up and encourages the other people around you who listen to the interpretation.
Speaking in tongues is perfect prayer - even if you dont quite know what to say you can still do it. Because the words are coming from God, you really can’t say something wrong.
Come to the young adult advance though, you’ll get a bit clearer understanding of it. don’t forget though, the registration deadline is in like a week!
(I still gotta get mine in too… and if the money is trouble then talk to nancy: 937-669-3090 or cffsec@aol.com )

Ahhh ok i see…thats what i kinda thought but i wasn’t shore. so do u believe then that if someone is born again but they don’t speak in tongues that they’re not going to heaven?

You’re still going to heaven if youre borne again wether you speak in tongues or not. the speaking in tongues is like a free bonus ;)
a year ago I think I took the entire month of agust off for vacation with mom, vacation with dad, week with my church , and a couple days at home to just hang out. but i made up for it by only taking like 2 days off this past summer. last year was more fun…

lol o ok, i agree with u, i just didnt want to make it sound like i was gonna be angry or offended if u believed u dont go to heaven unless u speak in tongues…which i truthfully would have been (offended), cus i’m saved, but i dont speak in tongues; i just didnt wunna get in an argument or w/e……haha i hope i didnt make u confused

And, building on that, this is what I sent to someone else:
Hey, Laura Gilmore said you were a bit curious about speaking in tongues.
Speaking In tongues is straight out of the bible as something God wants us to do. The first time it happened was on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2.
It’s a great way to build yourself up and, if you interpret it, the other people around you. And it’s available to anybody who pulls off Romans 10:9 & 10:
Romans 10:9-10:
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
That’s the long way of saying “getting saved.” In the bible, just about every time someone is saved, they turn around and speak in tongues shortly thereafter.
It’s speaking words that were given to you from God in a language you don’t know. The language could be a mans language or an angels language (1 Corinthians 13:1). You move your mouth and you take the action to make the sounds, but God gives you the actual words.
There’s a lot of reasons for why to speak in tongues. For starters, it’s proof that your born again / saved. If you can speak in tongues, then you are absolutely, positively, 100 percent guaranteed going to heaven and all hell can’t stop you. If you speak in tongues then you’re born again, and once you’re born again, you can’t loose it.
Besides that though, it just builds you up, it makes you feel better. It calms you down if you’re upset.
You can speak in tongues out loud or you can do it silently in your head. You can do it with a group of people, although you’d want to translate it. (Decently and in order - one person speaks at a time - 1 Corinthians 14:39-40) When interpret it, God gives you the understanding of what it means. The interpretation would then be in your own words. When you interpret it then it builds up and encourages the other people around you who listen to the interpretation.
Speaking in tongues is perfect prayer - even if you don’t quite know what to say you can still do it. Because the words are coming from God, you really can’t say something wrong.
It’s really something you should check out. Let me know if you’re still curious, or you can talk to those Gilmore girls ;)
God bless ya!
